Neurodivergent

Financial Protection for Neurodivergent People

Do you have parental responsibility for a neurodivergent person? Have you considered how things will change when they turn 18? Or how their money will be managed when you’re no longer around?

Without the right arrangements in place and things handled correctly, you can lose the ability to support them, and they could miss out on money they’re entitled to.

I can help you get everything in place. So that you can continue to support them, act in their best interest and to plan for their future.

What You Need To Consider…

As soon as they turn 18, things change.

  • They are no longer a child. Legally, they have their own voice.

  • You lose the automatic right to manage their money.

  • DWP and banks will no longer talk to you about their finances.

  • They don’t have the skills needed and they are easily taken advantage of.

  • Their benefits may be affected if you leave them money in your Will.

How I Can Help You Help Them…

I can help you get the following in place:

  • Arrangements that allow their benefits to continue being paid to your account, even once they turn 18. Keeping their money safe and managed by a responsible advocate.

  • A deputyship. Allowing you and any other appointed deputies to make financial decisions in their best interest.

  • A Vulnerable Person’s Trust in your Will. Keeping their money safe from someone who might want to take advantage of them, and allowing them to keep their benefit payments after an inheritance.

Don’t leave your loved one vulnerable when they turn 18, but are not ready for adulthood. Make sure support is place for them when you’re no longer here.
